proverb of the day: “Perfect is the enemy of good”

1 Apr

Keeping it light to start the week.  A little touch of perspective today: a non-medical concept with applications to your life and job.

Per Dr. Wikipedia…

The phrase is commonly attributed to Voltaire whose moral poem, La Bégueule, starts

“Dans ses écrits, un sàge Italien

Dit que le mieux est l’ennemi du bien.

(In his writings, a wise Italian

says that the best is the enemy of the good) ”

Worth running through your mind every now & then.  For me, it helps keep me focused on the big picture, and not get too sucked into getting one specific task trying to get it perfect, at the cost of time or resources spent on something else important.

Good for perspective. Good for medicine. Good for life.

“Perfect is the enemy of good”
