single operator traction-countertraction shoulder reduction

14 May

add this to your toolbox, might come in handy for your next shoulder reduction

SOSMAT: single-operator scapular manipulation and traction-countertraction for reduction of anterior shoulder dislocation.

Neat idea by Pallin JD.

tie sheet to patient’s wrist

tie other end to your thigh

foot on the sheet near the wrist (knee bent, captain-morgan-style)

lean towards bed/patient on the sheet, weight should pull it down

manipulate the scapula to your heart’s content

single operator

no sedation needed

combines scapular manipulation and traction-countertraction
