SOSMAT: single-operator scapular manipulation and traction-countertraction for reduction of anterior shoulder dislocation.

BASICS:

tie sheet to patient’s wrist

tie other end to your thigh

foot on the sheet near the wrist (knee bent, captain-morgan-style)

lean towards bed/patient on the sheet, weight should pull it down

manipulate the scapula to your heart’s content

BENEFITS:

single operator

no sedation needed

combines scapular manipulation and traction-countertraction
